Some gameplay footage of MLB The Show 19 to pore over

  • Baseball season is nearing, and you know what that means, right? Yes, the next entry in Sony’s MLB The Show franchise. The Show is consistently one of the best sports games around, in large part because of Sony San Diego’s dedication to making changes both big and small from year to year. From what has been released thus far, it’s clear that Sony will continue its methodical approach to increasing realism in MLB The Show 19. Ahead of the game’s March 26 launch on PlayStation 4, here’s everything we know about MLB The Show 19.

The team in San Diego this year want defensive players to stand out, with some elite players able to make defensive plays that others wouldn't be able to make. On defense it's about being efficient this year, with MLB The Show 19 featuring animations where defensive players will automatically go and get the ball in the open field instead of you having to do it manually while you're controlling them.

Members of the Baseball Hall of Fame are sprinkled throughout the trailer, including MLB The Show 17 cover athlete Ken Griffey Jr., Tony Gwynn, and Christy Mathewson, the latter of whom is new to the franchise’s collection of “legends.” Presumably, they will play a role in one of MLB 19’s new game modes, Moments — the trailer closes with a clip of Willie Mays, an in-game recreation of his fabled over-the-shoulder catch in the 1954 World Series. By the way, you can buy cheap MLB 19 Stubs from mmocs.com, where you can enjoy a 3% discount by using the code “ MMOCSVIP ”.

There were two streams on Thursday. The first one focused on fielding, and it was downright impressive. The development team seems to have devised a system built to perfectly penalize players who exploit the game by playing guys out of position. For years–especially in Diamond Dynasty–gamers have stacked lineups with heavy hitters because the penalty for playing someone out of position wasn't stiff enough. If the system revealed on Thursday works as it sounds and looks, the days of using that exploit are over.

One of the activities the development team looks forward to every year are the Twitch livestreams. It’s a great opportunity for us to show our faithful fans what we’ve been working on to makes this year’s game the best ever. This year we have seven pre-launch streams packed with content running the gamut of our feature set. These include two brand new modes “March To October” and “Moments”.

MLB The Show 19 will launch on March 26, 2019 for PS4, and young slugger superstar Bryce Harper will be on the cover. While Harper has been announced as the cover star, the final box art isn't ready yet because Harper hasn't confirmed where he's going to play next.
