One of the things I’ve been most excited about in the VR space for the last several months is the impending release of Praydog’s Universal UEVR Mod, which will bring VR support to hundreds of titles running on Epic’s Unreal Engine 4 and 5. If you’ve already used Praydog’s excellent mods for the Resident Evil games, then you know that having that sort of near-native VR functionality available with the massive library of UE4 and 5 games going to be HUGE! There’s a lot of good information about Praydog’s UEVR mod available on Twitter and Reddit, but I hadn’t seen a lot of coverage about it here on YouTube so I wanted to make a video letting people know what to expect. I briefly touch on the history of flat-to-VR modding, and explain what Praydog’s UEVR mod is and why some developers are less than excited to see it released. I’ve been playing modded flatscreen games in VR for almost a decade now with varying degrees of success, so I can’t wait to finally be able to dive into my backlog in VR without the hassle. Maybe I’ll even manage to finally load up some of my otherwise-decorative Steam icons for the first time!
